Chemal 13-3 is a nonionic surfactant that belongs to the group of ethoxylated linear, synthetic alcohols (INCI name: C12-13 Pareth-3). The Chemal 13 series is based on a linear C12-13 alcohol. Due to the strong detergency and wetting capacity of these alcohols, they are ideal ingredients of household, industrial and institutional cleaning products.
Chemal 13-3 is a clear liquid with an active substance content of approximately 100%. This product may haze or stratify under cold conditions, but is easily restored to homogeneity with low heat and agitation. The product is dispersible in water exhibiting an aqueous cloud point of < 25°C. Due to its limited water solubility, it forms cloudy solutions in combination with water. However, its high surface activity makes it ideal for use in both water and other liquids and it results in a surface tension of 25.0 d/cm at a 0.1% dilution @ 25°C. It can be used in combination with other nonionics as well as cationic and anionic surfactants.
Chemal 13-3 is characterized by an unstable, fast breaking foam allowing for use in spray and high agitation cleaning processes. It exhibits low viscosity (14 cSt @ 100° F) and has an average molecular weight of 322. With an HLB of 7.9 this chemistry is useful as a co-emulsifier in multiple systems. Recommended use level: 0.25 to 1.0% by weight.
