PCC Chemax

Our Roots & Evolution

Decades of expertise. One clear focus: performance additives engineered for the markets that need them most.

Our story began in 1973 when three partners founded Chemax to develop specialty additives tailored to specific markets and individual customer needs. We grew steadily, and after an acquisition by Rütgers Organics in 1999, we hit a major milestone in 2006. That year, we became the very first U.S.-based company acquired by PCC SE (headquartered in Duisburg, Germany). In 2013, we were officially incorporated into the PCC EXOL family. This strategic move supercharged our R&D operations and significantly expanded our portfolio of specialty products.

Global Powerhouse, Southern Hospitality

Today, we operate with the agility of a local American manufacturer, but we are backed by the massive scale of the PCC Group. To put that into perspective, our global network boasts an annual production capacity of 137,000 tons and a portfolio of over 700 products. For our U.S. customers, this means bulletproof supply chain stability and world-class technical support, delivered with the rapid response times you expect from a domestic partner.

While we maintain a commanding competitive position across multiple demanding industries—including Metalworking, Polymer Additives, Oilfield, HI&I, and Waste Water Treatment—we are deeply invested in empowering the American agricultural sector. In today’s dynamic farming environment, efficiency is everything. That’s why we supply top-tier agrochemicals, ranging from advanced adjuvants and biostimulants to liquid foliar fertilizers. Whether you’re optimizing crop yields in the Midwest or developing new industrial formulations, we have the chemistry to make it happen.
