Chemal Alkoxylated alcohols are generally low foam surfactants which provide wetting, detergency, and defoaming properties. They are used in rinse aids and mechanical dishwashing detergents, spray metal cleaning, formulations, and other detergent products where low foaming properties are required. Chemal LFL-28C is primarily recommended for evaluation in defoaming, rinse aid antistreaking and wetting applications.
Chemal LFL-28C is a nonionic surfactant belonging to the group of alkoxylated fatty alcohols. The product is based on a short carbon chain alcohol and has a chemical description of “Oxirane, 2-methyl-, polymer with oxirane, monododecyl ether”. Chemal LFL-28C may be used in mechanical dish wash formulations and rinse aids, as well as in textile and cleaning applications where there is a need for low to non-foaming products. It may also be used in any spray cleaning applications for metal and hard surface substrates where low to non-foaming properties are required, including cascading rinse aids for industrial processes.
Chemal LFL-28C is a water white to light yellow liquid with a maximum color of 200 APHA at 25°C. The product is sold in 100% active form which may become hazy when cooled. Low heat and mild agitation will easily restore the material to clarity if this occurs. Chemal LFL-28C forms a clear solution in water at ambient temperature. As the chemistry will cloud out at temperatures above ~32°C, it provides low foaming and defoaming properties to aqueous cleaning and wetting solutions to cleaning systems at or slightly above ambient temperatures.
Chemal LFL-28C exhibits a Draves wetting speed of 5 seconds @ 25°C and a surface tension of 34.0 under the same conditions.
