Polymax® NPA-15 is a high foaming electroplating additive that should be used only in applications that can tolerate foam. In matte systems, Polymax®NPA-15 gives good grain refinement over wide current densities. Polymax® NPA-15 adds brightener solubilization and leveling in bright systems.
Polymax® NPA-15 belongs to a line of products developed for plating applications. The Polymax® materials offer a variety of functions in both electroless and electrolytic plating baths. Low treat rates and a diversity of chemistries offer economic and formulation options in numerous types of baths.
Polymax® NPA-15 is most commonly used in acid zinc systems to enhance grain refinement and leveling at a recommended use level of 2.5-5.0 g/l. This chemistry also assists in brightener solubilization including OCB and benzylidene acetone. Due to high activity, this product generates significant foam to assist in the formation of a foam blanket to minimize evaporation and maintain bath integrity.
Polymax® NPA-15 is a high molecular weight APE with an aqueous cloud point of >100°C. This nonionic is readily compatible with a wide range of chemistries and can be used in conjuction with other PCC Chemax products to improve performance in your bath. If improved high current density properties are required, additions of Polymax® PA-671 are recommended. If lower foam is required, the addition of Chemal BP-261 or Chemal BP-262LF may be recommended.
